Home Caregiver – Housework

The home caregiver for housework must be able to...

  • Complete regular heavy and seasonal housework.
  • Take care of clothing and household linens.
  • Do errands for the client and fix simple meals for diets without medical restrictions.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma is an asset.
  • Must be able to undergo occasional criminal and medical background checks.
  • The ability to withstand sustained physical exertion.
  • Access to a vehicle or public transportation.

Home Caregiver – Personal Care

A personal home caregiver must...

  • Provide personal care by helping with daily activities, such as personal hygiene, getting dressed, eating, taking medications, accompanying the client and ensuring safe travel outside the home, and so on. They can also offer physically or cognitively stimulating activities.
  • Provide respite care for family caregivers by ensuring the beneficiary’s comfort and safety.
  • Complete daily household tasks as needed, such as:
    • completing regular heavy and seasonal housework;
    • caring for clothing and household linens;
    • doing errands for the client and fixing simple meals for diets without medical restrictions.

Requirements

  • An SSVD in personal care is an asset.
  • Must be able to undergo occasional criminal and medical background checks.
  • Have completed the moving patients safely principles (MPSP) training.
  • Have a valid, up-to-date CPR certificate.
  • Have access to a vehicle or public transportation.
